Meet the Chef – Zeb McDermott

Zeb was born and raised in Asheville spending most of his life in the area. He has also lived and worked in Boston and Portland, Oregon. In addition to his formal training, Zeb attributes his success as a chef to lots of trial and error. He is always excited about learning and trying new things to continue to hone his craft. His enthusiasm in the kitchen is contagious!

Fresh Local Ingredients

Zeb places a high value on fresh ingredients and he actively works on establishing relationships with local farmers to source the highest quality, in-season produce and meat. Some of our local farm vendors are: Arrowwood Farm (shiitake mushrooms), Long Mountain Farm (organic produce), Gibson Berry Farm, Hickory Nut Gap Farm (meat), Brasstown Meats, and Sunburst Trout. Also, Zeb can be found cutting herbs and veggies from our on-site organic cutting garden daily.

Special Events

For catered events at the Inn, Zeb will talk with you about your tastes and preferences. He also offers the option to work with you to start from scratch and custom-design your own personalized menu to include favorite dishes, special dietary restrictions, etc. Zeb thrives in the personal conversations about food. His talents are showcased in creating personalized, high-quality, delicious meals just for you and your guests.

Made a reservation for dinner, after a bit of research about the mountain magnolia inn. 10 minutes after I made the reservation, Chef Zeb called my cell to talk about what direction I had in mind for dinner. I thought that was amazing. Once we arrived to the MM inn grounds (which by the way are perfect) we were able to dine outside on the porch, very romantic.
